Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana, was inaugurated on April 2, 2012, by Charanjeet Singh Atwal, Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, in the presence of Sankaracharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and Singh Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedhar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, among others. Atwal said, “We all are one. We are sons and daughters of the same God. Human service is the biggest service and eye care is above all. I promise to extend the support of the Punjab government for this noble cause.

Spanning across 55,000 sq. ft. on two-acre complex and backed by an expert team of eye surgeons, the 100-bed hospital provides specialized consultation and treatment across all sub-specialties in ophthalmology. These include cataract, cornea, retina, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, oculoplasty, Lasik laser correction and it also has a computer vision clinic and contact lens facility. The hospital runs community-oriented programs such as comprehensive eye care for children and curative eye care. Our first patient was an abandoned 15-day old baby girl who couldn’t open her eyes. It wasn’t a critical condition; the doctors diagnosed her with conjunctivitis and cured her. All of us at the Sankara Eye Hospital sincerely appreciate your support for this hospital, that helped us complete the hospital.
